Description:

The Convair B-36 Peacemaker had a unique combination of six piston-driven propeller engines and four turbo-jet engines. The B-36 was the largest mass-produced piston engine aircraft ever made and the biggest wingspan combat aircraft ever built, although there have been larger military transports. The B-36 had a range of over 6,000 miles and a maximum payload of 72,000 lb making the B-36 the first operational bomber with an (true) intercontinental range. The B-36 was eventually replaced by the Boeing B-52 all jet bomber.
